Very intimate album in the vein of Loughing Stock and Spirit of Eden, but not more beautiful than the two mentioned CDs. Spirit remains an exceptional work also because it is the CD of true change. This self-titled album is very sad... it's as if the lamb on the cover (sacrificial lamb even if it’s edible) represents him. A retreat from the scene seems to be looming. The album should be taken as a lullaby... a whispered voice reminding you who you are.
Giorgio Gaber La mia generazione ha perso

It's difficult to determine what qualifies as commonplace. Today more than ever, it's better not to take anything for granted, but rather to revitalize concepts that only seemingly appear to be commonplace. Thus, the iconic "if I were God" speech from Gaber should become a point of reflection. Good G has truly understood one thing: man is no longer at the center of the world but has instead become a slave to trends, money, false ideologies, his own greed, his instincts, religion. Man has lost himself; he is concerned with everything except the most fundamental truths, namely, his being both substance and love at the same time. G highlights a loss of identity that does not exempt him from the rest of humanity.

Take a look, speaking of 2005, also at the album *neve ridens* by Marco Parente (really remarkable) and the excellent Anatrofobia with "tesa musica marginale" (really a lot of class). Italian music is growing in a dizzying way, too bad the majors haven't noticed. In just 2005, a series of truly interesting Italian albums has been released, and some of them are doing really well even in England (see Nosound). The problem here in Italy is that you have to make an effort to find them. Hi guys :) PS: I keep repeating that the second CD of the special edition of dopoguerra is even more beautiful than the first. If you have the money, get the special edition...it's worth it. :)

Hi Jimi... never thought that those who downgrade this album could, in some way, convince me that the album is crap! It's clear that these people who shout about the miracle of Cremonini have understood very little about this wonder. But that's how it is... I recommend you listen to Randone "Hybla part 1," which you can find at this link: Randone - Hybla act 1
By the way, check out Anatrofobia with "tesa musica marginale"… anything but CREMONINI!!!!!! Here's the link: デリヘルSM
A hug to all those who downgrade and to those who don't :)

Hi Open, let's say that the music you listen to doesn't bother me :)... In fact, Head First is not better than the album you reviewed, but we're in the same field. Open, take a look at my review of Nosound, listen to the samples, and let me know what you think (I would really appreciate your comment, not on the review but on the samples :P). I don't know why, but I feel that album might interest you. You might also like the latest from Anathema and Pineapple Thief (much slower, but slow, but slow). It would be nice to exchange....(if you have trouble finding any CDs (like Omnia Opera) let me know...it's a pleasure to trade with you). Ciauuuzzzz

After a decent debut with "contro un'onda del mare" (album recommended by Battiato), he got lost in a pop "all in his own way," and it brings a touch of sadness to think about "viaggio di luna" and "karbogah" compared to "l'uomo più furbo." It's a shame he could have developed a good genre; instead, it remains just a pleasant listen.

Hi Antonio, and thanks for the reply. No, I don't know the album you're pointing out, but reading the names, I'm quite curious about it... let's say that if you're looking for a "Pavlov's dog" effect, you've succeeded :) I agree with the Swiss watch analogy and Wilson's needs. However, in DW it seems that Gavin puts more heart into it. Great response, Antonio; I appreciate it when someone suggests different perspectives and helps me expand my limits. Bye :)

Hi Antonio, it's great to hear from you again :) I have no doubt about Gavin's abilities, but the creativity. Between the two, Gavin seems more didactic to me (I'm a drummer... not very good... but a lot!!) whereas Chris is very imaginative. In the early PT days, Maitland was a true inspirer of rhythm (check out the album Metanoia, which is a record of pure improvisation—this reminds me of King Crimson—and where Chris is the undisputed star). Then with IA, Gavin arrives, and the difference is noticeable: cleanliness and timing, but something is missing... namely the continuous evolution of the performance. Everything feels very geometric and square, but lacking in imagination. Already with DW, the music begins to change, and Gavin does "something more." The challenge is reinventing a 4/4, and Maitland was unique in this... then he decided to dedicate himself to family! DAMN!!!! :P
