Litfiba Colpo di coda

Terrible review... oh my gosh...
The album is more than good, played with precision and remarkable strength. Perhaps it wasn't entirely necessary (like almost all the "intermediate" releases of Litfiba), but all in all it captures the band in one of its highest moments, probably second only to the "17 Re" tour.

If by churning out "crafted commercial products" you mean something more focused and enjoyable, it perhaps would have been better to actually produce it... Frankly, I had high expectations for this album, but unfortunately, I've had to conclude that it is destined only for genre enthusiasts. The most accurate comment comes from the authoritative AllmusicGuide: "simply the guitar riffs and melodies are not that memorable." Indeed, that's all there is to it: great respect for a band that produces such a difficult product, but unfortunately, the album is certainly not a masterpiece and frankly turns out to be quite monotonous and a bit boring. In short, those who aren't familiar with them shouldn't expect Dream Theater...
Riccardo Cocciante Concerto Per Margherita

After everything I had read about it, listening to this album frankly disappointed me a bit. To be clear, I don't find it bad. Vangelis's arrangements are very well-crafted, and Cocciante is a pop artist who shuns banality in search of different solutions. However, the compositions are not, in my opinion, exceptional; they all repeat a formula: that of repetitiveness, of crescendo, and the lack of a chorus. This can work, but only in the presence of a melody so beautiful that it can sustain an entire song. And I believe this happens only in "Margherita," which is absolutely wonderful. For the rest, despite (I repeat) having the utmost respect for the artist, I quickly lost interest in the album. Upon rereading the titles, the only one that comes to mind is "Violenza," which is very touching. Perhaps Cocciante works better in an anthology: I think it's time to get the box set...

Onda Araba is truly one of the most beautiful songs by Litfiba.
The Litfiba of the '80s are amazing!

The review is beautiful, but regarding the album, I paraphrase Moretti: "I must say, I expected worse: Choose Love is not bad at all."

Yes, I had read it too, but it seems really strange to me that Ringo would refuse a song like "All those years ago" due to his vocal abilities. Let's not forget that in "Goodnight Vienna" he sang "Only you (and you alone)": that was definitely beyond his vocal range! And he handled it excellently with a performance that was as understated as possible. So I tend to trust Harrison more, who, while Ringo was struggling with the record label over the release of "Stop and smell the roses," recognized the value of his own song and decided to cash in... Just my personal opinion...

Harrison was supposed to deliver one of his finest songs, but after Lennon’s death he decided to change the lyrics and recycle it as a tribute to his former bandmate under the title "All those years ago"... Lennon had even prepared 4 tracks for his friend Ringo's album: it is known for certain that two of these were "Nobody told me" (which ended up on the posthumous "Milk and honey") and "Life Begins at 40" (which can be found on the "Anthology"). It is said that one of the other 2 contributions was "I don't want to face it," but this is just speculation. Unless Yoko Ono provides more information in the future, it will be difficult to learn anything more.

I'm sorry Cece, I don't know her yet. However, I have the album on my computer and I don't think it will be long before I listen to it. By the way, "Stop and smell the roses" is an album that can spark a great discussion, especially regarding the tracks by Lennon and Harrison that were supposed to appear on the album, if it weren't for Lennon’s death, and all the record label troubles he faced. I'll take the advice! ;)
