Paolo Sorrentino Il Divo

I appreciate the originality of your stance and the provocation that seems to insist in it, but I dissent from what you write: upon entering the cinema, I expected to see a truth film in the style of Rosi, and instead, I found myself in a hyper-realistic and simultaneously grotesque work, where the Andreotti style is presented with tones, colors, and accents reminiscent of Tarantino (or Leone in "Il buono..."), in which the encounter with Riina takes on the tones of farce, and where Andreotti's own lucid self-analysis - which almost confesses all his "misdeeds" - veers into the metaphysical, into the improbable. Sorrentino does not aim to create a truth cinema or to give yet another edited version of the political and existential parable of Andreotti from the perspective of the good guys, but conducts an original reflection on power and the madness that accompanies it, seen through the distorting lens of staging. It may be pleasing or unpleasing, but it seems to me a courageous film, and certainly not benevolent towards our Country, puppets and puppeteers.

I don't know... I've always refused to listen to Judas Priest in the '80s... and I didn't like them back then either. So-so review.

Judge, if you read the comments from laRock and Lavalin, you’ll notice – in my opinion – that they are girls. If you read the comments from Il_Paolo, you won’t find any references to lived moments that would allow you to define their gender, and, curiously, you never see him make any lewd comments about Deb's women or the women reviewed (even the reviews of Gloria Guida and Lilli Carati feel fishy to me). And then, why choose such a nickname? So that we would all be misled by IL, or to declare himself a man when, probably, he’s a woman! But maybe these are just the paranoias of someone who has time to waste, mine!

Il_Paolo/La_valin strikes again and knocks me out with a mind-blowing KO: I’ll say that I don’t mind the film, even though it’s a mediocre product that still manages to restrain a typically over-the-top Jerry Calà. As for your review, the best part for me is the lineup of characters you present at the beginning, almost a Sgt. Pepper-like paolist: however, here I must contest the usually attentive Muitosaudosismo, who, as a good literati, should tell us that Primo Levi and Franco Lucentini are "meditabondi sulle scale di casa." Il_Paolo has a feminine malice, which makes me start to suspect that - also due to the perseverance shown in the gestation of his mission in Deb - he might be a woman!!!

I've never seen the series, not even by mistake, not even while randomly channel surfing, just to be clear, and definitely not under torture. I believe the movie will meet the same fate. I might be wrong, but it recklessly revives the 80s hedonism - good luck explaining that in the States after 9/11 - to the detriment of generations already battered by the terrible "Friends." I can't stand Sarah J. Parker (though I acknowledge her Israeli charm, but in the genre, Irene Jacob is a better fit).

Don't fall for Poletti's usual traps, which are always excessive when he comments. Let's say that Carrey, compared to Lewis, is less disconcerting, more mannered, and therefore, less effective overall, often exceeding in pure vulgarity. That said, especially when he takes on serious roles, he is one of the best talents of his generation. As a comedian, he sometimes seems artificial to me.

Uxo, ok, but I meant the last "great" movie of Jerry Lewis, it doesn't seem to me that the ones you mentioned are. Bye and thanks anyway for the clarification.
