I apologize for any typos in my observations. However, some users respond to my comments by emphasizing the beauty of the Beatles' melodies: nothing to say about that, but then you haven't grasped the essence of my opinions. A comparison between Tommy by The Who and the contemporary works might clarify it... without even bringing up the Yardbirds & Co.

Thank you for the comments: it's difficult to draw conclusions from your observations. Anyway, I know the Beatles' albums, especially those from '67 to '70, and I've listened to them multiple times: the best is Abbey Road, undoubtedly a good example of pop psychedelia. Sg. Pepper is also excellent, always within the pop realm. The much-declaimed White Album, on the other hand, doesn't impress me much, although Helter Skelter is a great track. I reached my conclusions after years of trying unsuccessfully to convince myself that there was something fundamental about the group: in reality, it was the only foreign group that, in the '60s, reached the (Italian) masses and was socially acceptable (at least until the "Indian" turn), and this explains how they were idolized by the generation born in the '40s and '50s, with obvious consequences on public opinion.

I remember them well, fitting perfectly into that apparent renewal of Italian music in the early '90s, with Bungaro, Conidi, di Bella, di Graci, Madonia, etc., Valentina Gautier, etc., all returned to limbo. What a shame.

Excellent review also because it brings back a work I've never heard of: it piqued my curiosity and I will try to get a hold of it...

Thank you for the vote of confidence: the truth is that, as I was writing the review, I was developing a dislike for this album, from which I only save Burnin'..., Slippery People, and Girlfriend is Better. The others are not bad, but they slip away like fresh water.

Nice review. To be honest, I've never listened to it, but you've piqued my interest. Try reviewing Sin after Sin as well, since it's missing...

I dramatically forgot After Dark: I apologize. A splendid opening of bass/drums/keyboards/guitar, in a melodic piece where Bloom's vocals powerfully stand out, leading up to the explosion of the choruses, with a highly impactful refrain. Lanier takes the lion's share with the textures of his synthesizers.
