Stanley Kubrick 2001: Odissea Nello Spazio
Voto:
As far as I remember, the film is - more or less - a parable about human evolution and the idea that it is guided by some Entity: the bone-spaceship Discovery has the shape of an arrow, while Bowman I believe means archer, so the idea is of a dart shot towards infinity. In the end, when the Star Child is reborn, we are practically confronted with the Übermensch (it's all in A.C. Clarke's book). The film is among my favorites, like all of Kubrick's work, the figure of HAL is unsettling without being "real."
Brian De Palma Omicidio a luci rosse

It is almost a remake of "Vertigo" and "Rear Window" skillfully blended, thus a film not too original in its premises, although technically superb as always with De Palma. You are so distracted/attracted by the images that you overlook the obviousness of the solution. While in Hitchcock the sexual drive implicit in the protagonists was repressed in form, just as the English director's Catholicism repressed his instincts by sublimating them, in De Palma the protagonist's sexual drive is explicit and exalted in both form and cinematography, from a dual perspective: the lady's striptease and also her demise (the phallic allusion is blatant). Therefore, there is a triple voyeurism: you watch the protagonist watching and share in his desire, you watch the lady, and you also watch her murder, amplifying a sense of frustration.

The fact that I wrote some nonsense - I admit it - struck me last night when I saw Ferreri and Tognazzi in a vintage "Blitz" with Gianni Minà: today, on a Sunday afternoon, it wouldn't be possible, even due to a lack of similar talents. I self-vote.

Unfortunately, I don't have time to read you today. A vote of confidence, you and him (maybe this should be 10, rather than 5).

I'm in Love with My Computer is actually the best song of the lot, it's not theirs, but it's a cover by a Pordenone band from the '70s, I believe the Andy Warhol Banana Technicolor, who emerged from the "Great Complotto" that later paved the way for other subgroups, including Toffolo himself: compared to the original, there's a vocal introduction that recalls the Naonian scene of the late '70s with a touch of nostalgia ("when everything seemed possible"), almost like a tribute. I agree with those who think "Quasi adatti" is excellent, while "Ogni adolescenza" is just ok, better "Prova a star con me."

Hymnen, could you clarify your thoughts on this work? My review is almost two years old, but after recently re-listening to the album, I can only reaffirm the judgment I made back then on "Hold...": undoubtedly a good work, but which - despite its overall excellent quality - marks the beginning of the group's declining phase.

I quote and appreciate Bartleboom. However, I must ask the same editor for clarifications regarding the "Flintstone case": how did his expulsion from the site come about? Is Flintstone HappyPippo? Why is he threatening to shut down the site, on what legal grounds? I'm lost and struggling to find the thread in the myriad of posts. Thank you!

Underrated, in the end: a group with good technique and decent personality. Bertrand Cantat should tell you more, his fame comes from completely different events. I fondly remember that song of theirs that went "eri nuda su playoby...."

One of the most interesting works in recent years, it deserved a more analytical review than this. I am not a group, but a solo artist.
