Scorpions Fly To The Rainbow

Right now, I've been listening to the early Scorpions, which I've ignored over the years, perhaps a victim of their 80s pop hard sound (Love at First Sting). I must say that Virgin Killer and In Trance are truly great albums for their time, with a touch of originality thanks to Roh. I don't know this one, but I'll listen to it as soon as possible, while I ask readers for a brief evaluation of Taken By Force, just to understand where the "early" Scorpions end and the more banal "later" ones begin. P.S.: the cover, however, is really awful.

@mopaga: be aware that in this movie it doesn't matter understanding who the murderer is; - and then the chilling surprise alludes to something else... let me know!

I have always respected Bisius, even more today because he is growing as a reviewer. I don't know them.

@francescobus: I'm only just reading your post - sorry. I agree with your book regarding the fact that traditional hard rock requires improvisation, while metal seems more rigid. This is because so-called hard rock is, in fact, hard blues often linked to the jazz improvisations that were so popular at the end of the '60s (you can also take Miles Davis's Bitches Brew as a reference), or to the free form improvisations of much of the era's psychedelia. Therefore, especially in live settings, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin were excellent improvisers. In metal, this is lost, primarily because the tracks are much shorter and more compact (with the punk influence being "anti-progressive"), consequently limiting the improvisations of individual musicians, regardless of their considerable technical skill. Cheers!

you know I’ve never seen it in its entirety? It must be wonderful too, though.

@Poletti: I know they mainly broadcast it on those networks. In my opinion, if you don't watch it, you're missing out on something; here Dorelli - elsewhere a bit of a caricature despite himself - performs well, and in any case, you can't miss this beautiful work just because you dislike the protagonist. Otherwise, you know how many films you would miss!

@nero:I will do it. I'm also sorry that few have read it, not for what I wrote, but because this is a film that truly deserves it.

@lord: when you see it let me know what you think! P.S. Dorelli's son is played by the same actor who, when he was a kid, got killed by Henry Fonda in Once Upon a Time in the West by Sergio Leone.

...exactly! Thank you for understanding the tone of my review, not shared by many others; I will follow your advice.

It’s truly amazing to think that in '82 these works were available in Italy (lucky you for being the right age for those discoveries...) The review is really excellent. However, I've never been too fond of them; I find them sometimes repetitive and boring, lacking a bit of flair in their songs (I know I'm going against the grain). In any case, seminal, given the context in which they were active and what was considered airplay twenty-five years ago.
