Dario Argento Trauma

@Galakordi: could you elaborate on your thoughts regarding the "ignorant" nature of Argento's cinema? Not to provoke a debate, but to start a discussion that might interest the readers.

I'm reading just now. The review is not bad, but the Artist truly deserved something more. Recommended to all music lovers.

Has anyone really seen this film? I would appreciate some comments about it, leaving aside Calà's qualities...

@psycho: that decade never left, just think that those who were 30 back then are now over 50 and sit at the helm of our Country. From Discoring to the Billionaire, the leap is short.

@psycho: in fact, I almost completely share your argument. When viewed through a sociological lens, all those comedies from the '80s with various Boldi, De Sica, Greggio, Calà (and all the acolytes of Drive In, for example) seem to lay the groundwork for the '90s and their political drift, marked by opportunism, ambivalence, etc. I don't believe, however, that "art" has inspired life, but rather that these films were expressive of a cultural climate that has always been felt and continues to be felt in our country: wasn't Sordi himself somewhat of an opportunist, with all due respect for the Actor? The reevaluation of these films seems to me more than dangerous: a) snobbish and radical chic in the pejorative sense of the term; b) malicious and instrumental. That said, read my review for what it is and nothing more: a humble revival of a charming little thriller from the '80s, perfect for lazy summer days.

Thank you for the attention and comments: but has no one seen the film? It seems to me that everything is focused on the dislike for poor Calà, especially the remarks from Poletti, who already criticized "Il Mostro" because he dislikes Dorelli. Dislikes and idiosyncrasies are understandable and not open to criticism - it’s clear - but they shouldn’t necessarily undermine the commentary on the film.
To put it another way: even someone like Albertazzi can be unlikable, but that doesn’t mean his theater is terrible. The same goes for a Visconti or a Zeffirelli as an opera director. If I may add, don't hate this film just because you don't like Calà...

@nero: I know Castelfranco, but I am driven by a certain bitterness towards some of its inhabitants; In fact, it’s not a bad place, and, after all, it’s the city of Giorgione. And I've said it all.

I don't want to spark any controversy, but this seems to me to be the most overrated thriller of the last few decades: well-made, well-acted, but lacking soul and, in my opinion, not as shocking as this genre of film should be. In this regard, without invoking genre cinema, I believe that a more mature reflection on thrillers can be found in contemporary works like "The Usual Suspects."

I remember that in the '80s, Canale 5 aired it in prime time, at least once a year. However, I never watched it...
