I have "Flirtin With Disaster" and "Beating The Odds" on vinyl (very worn). Frazetta is great... but Danny Joe Brown, with his distinctly Southern voice, completely obliterates Jim Farrar. Good job, I'm looking forward to the review then. @Bartleboom I'm waiting for a review of Iron Angel:DDD

Yes... here on dB there’s a review of "Slaughter In The Vatican," cloned from Shapeless zine, which talks about Exhorder as pioneers, before Pantera, of modern Thrash (that's more or less how it goes). Aside from that, I haven't listened to them much, except for the opening song of "The Law" (I have it on cassette).

The cover reminds me of Molly Hatchet, and I remember Kyle Thomas well from the opening song of "The Law" by Exhorder, but this band is entirely new to me.

As an analysis, it makes sense; I believe that since "March or Die," the works are frighteningly similar both in sound and in compositional schemes, apart from a few episodes like "Whorehouse Blues." I've listened a lot to the double CD with the A and B sides of the singles, which is a kind of summary up until the Robertson era, but I’ve never been a big fan of theirs.

It was my dream to see a thrash review with the highest score... everything postponed!

Truly tasty. I recently listened to "Heavy Metal Maniac" (from what I've read, highly appreciated by Chuck Schuldiner) but I haven't gotten to this yet. I'll remedy that quickly!

The review is excellent; I fully agree with both the musical analysis and the historical importance of the band. I'm very happy that you wrote this review in such a balanced and passionate way. If I had written it, I surely would have messed it up badly, writing a soulless review devoid of heart, which wouldn’t have been right. Instead, you perfectly described your musical youth as well as that of the thrash scene with wit and without sentimentality—probably one of your best reviews. Reading the first sentence, I realize I'm truly a fish out of water, a listener with no skills or background; I’ve written various reviews on thrash without having the cultural and emotional background to understand both the music and the visceral nature of certain compositions. I started listening to metal at twenty and have never been to a thrash concert in my life... yet I too enjoy "Possessed By Fire," perhaps because it represents a particular state of mind for me (I'd say angry). Well done, Bartleboom, a really nice surprise: great job!
