ALEXANDER: Now, of course, I haven't read the book so I couldn't tell you exactly. In the confusion, one can understand which side to be on, but also "make a mistake." And I think of Unamuno (perhaps the greatest Spanish philosopher), a socialist and a Catholic, who at the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, being the rector of the University of Salamanca, found himself in nationalist territory. He was initially convinced that the good of Spain, which he loved so much as a Basque, lay within Franco's army. But soon, when all his collaborators began to be arrested and when he finally understood what the reactionary falangists and carlists were really made of, he took a decidedly moral stance and gave a speech at the university in front of an audience composed solely of falangists, who were celebrating there "the day of the race," harshly criticizing the entire nationalist practice and personally the Minister of Propaganda Millàn Astray who was present (the inventor of the horrific nationalist slogan "Viva la muerte! Abajo la inteligencia"). He ended up under house arrest (the fascists feared an uprising if they put him in prison), where he died of a broken heart. Perhaps you already knew this history, anyway this whole anecdote is to specify what I mean by "making a mistake," lest anyone think that I believe there are good or bad people. And I am not even saying that there can be a Christian-style redemption (although the striking and unexpected action of Unamuno, given his background, might indeed have this aspect perhaps) through action, let that be clear. I simply say that the issues may come to a head in individual existence and the mistake I was talking about is precisely this: the betrayal of one's personal conscience.

As you rightly point out, this is completely different from what will make her the icon she still is. And I like it just the same.

Everything is fantastic: from the lyrics (especially) to the music that, despite/because of its overly monotonous post-punk/funk vibe typical of their era and geographical area, drives me crazy.

This is dedicated to all the fascists, to all the revisionists, and to people like Ocean who enjoy provoking as a fake, considering things that, in my opinion, are not to be taken lightly. I believe the warning is clear.

But do we want to talk about the fact that splinter is Petrucci and that the editors, knowing it, have always kept it hidden from us?!
