Focusing, as you say, on just one Gino Paoli: I've only heard this and "the trilogy of colors," as I like to call it. Even though there are historical versions of historical pieces, I ultimately find them less beautiful. The arrangements by others seem to give an extra boost to everything (for example: I think the rearrangement of Il Cielo In Una Stanza is much more beautiful than the original).
