Anyway, thinking about it now, I would give half a point more for the rival sniper's character... stuff that not even Prince of Persia jumps from one roof to another like that.

I honestly find this identification with the protagonist improbable... I don’t know who you are, but I have never been so far from feeling empathy for a film's protagonist. Moreover, this inner turmoil you mention regarding the effects of war seems quite different from any inner drama recorded on the big screen in a war film. His disconnection from the reality at home after returning seems more like a family drama than a moral one. Let me explain: he is that way because there he "saw evil." The term Evil is used more than once in reference to Iraq contrasted with where he lives. This Evil is always vaguely defined whenever it is mentioned in the film and seems to refer more to the ridiculous scenes, in my opinion, of the drill or the one hanging from chains on the ceiling, than to the actions of the Yankees. You also quote the line from the protagonist's companion but do not mention what the protagonist says after that line. And considering that the film seems to be, to a great extent, an apologia for Chris Kyle, the message it conveys appears extremely political and disagreeable. Even though the political aspect is somewhat mitigated by the fact that, as you rightly say, the film is largely realistic. That is to say, the people portrayed are probably really like that, and this can even be inferred from the images in the credits. The probable notion that only Americans can truly understand the film may also be true, but then Clint would have a “horizon that stops at the ceiling” and for a director of such caliber with an almost international distribution, this is a mistake.

The difference in blasphemies between the north and south is evident. In my area, articulating a blasphemy feels almost like something for jokesters/kids... while spending New Year's Eve in Rome with people from a working-class neighborhood, I realized that it really works that way there. Respect.

I don't really know much about jazz either, or just a little bit. More back in the day than now, for sure. But it's a beautifully written piece.

Robert Redford The Company You Keep - La Regola Del Silenzio
Voto:
Just seen it. What I remember is that for a red-blooded Democrat, Robert Redford surprised me a bit. Initially positively, but the ending, oh… the ending! Bad like few. Then I always thought it was released because of the Obama/Ayers scandal from a few years earlier: the latter, the leading figure of the Weather Underground, was Obama’s neighbor. A film that wants to come to terms with history and, like many that try to do so, fails. Added to that is the suspicion of political propaganda… I’d say it deserves a score of 2.5/5.

Nice try with the nickname, but it won't be enough to save you from my merdallico 1.
