Today it's Baustelle's turn, with "La Moda del Lento", at midnight on this heavy day, perhaps due to the lack of sleep these days, which clouds the cold landscape and anesthetizes the mind.

The first track of this second album by the Tuscan band opens with piano chords and voices, with a background of synthesizers that make everything a bit chaotic, serving as a fluorescent carpet for the perhaps overly dull voices. Just Baustelle. Next comes track two ("Arriva lo ye ye") aimed at electronic music, much more lively and stronger, even if it's not hard to recognize the band's typical chords and the unmistakable male and female voices. A very catchy piece, positive judgment. I must say that in this album the lyrics are neither particularly varied nor well understandable, as far as the meaning of the words is concerned..

"La canzone di Alain Delon", appear some wind instruments, "com'ero bello quando stavi con me"... beautiful, but enough with the preoccupations with young girls, tears, and equivalent nonsense. However, musically it's a nice piece, but it must be said, we struggle to break away from the usual patterns, and that's not a compliment. Next is "Love Affair", a single along with Arriva lo Ye Ye, a more provocative and pressing text, also emphasized by the greater enthusiasm of this voice... "sarà peccato, sarà reato, la prima volta, strapparsi gli slip?". Half the song is instrumental, I witness a spectacular use of synths to generate an engaging solo despite the lack of harmony, 10 out of 10 just for this fading ad libitum, remarkable idea.

In the following tracks, a heavy use of synths again with sounds of all kinds, reminiscent of the 80s, but we're in 2003 at the release of this album. Some fun breaks, some nice ideas but few developments. "Mademoiselle Boyfriend" marks what seems to be the best track, thanks especially to the sweet guitar riff and the captivating stereophonic play of an almost pure tone, which at first appears unbearable but ends up turning and twisting your mind. Even the following "La Settimana Bianca" captures my increasingly fleeting attention, in a classic pop with a nice text... "negativi vivi, esistenzialisti tristi, quarti arrivati, ai campionati di discesa libera all'inferno".

In the end, yes, this album is annoying to me, both for the hissing and dull voices, and for the lack of innovation. Little enthusiasm, even though towards the end there is a noticeable crescendo of emotions. But too little.

"The fashion of slow could hurt (very much) for various reasons, but at the same time, it soothes and knows how to cradle like few can do."

"A splash of color of these songs are, in addition to the arrangements and the bright melodies, the lyrics full of a poetic style that occasionally smells of beat generation."
